Frequently asked questions
What formats do I get back?
Every file produces two outputs: a print-ready PDF and an IDML file. IDML opens natively in Affinity Publisher 2 and Adobe InDesign.
What is IDML and can I open it in Affinity Publisher?
IDML is an open layout format. In Affinity Publisher: File → Open the .idml. First time only: right-click the pasteboard (the grey area outside the page), set the color to white, and disable "Clip to Canvas" so content on the pasteboard is visible.
How long does conversion take?
Jobs process one at a time on a dedicated machine. A 10-file job typically finishes in under 30 minutes. A 200-file job may take a few hours. The status page updates every 10 seconds and we email you when it's done.
What if some files can't be converted?
We convert every file we can. For any file that fails, we issue a partial refund automatically — you're only charged for successful conversions.
Can I add more files after paying?
No — each order is a fixed bundle. If you have more files than your tier allows, select the next tier up, or contact us for enterprise pricing.
How are my files stored?
Files are uploaded directly to encrypted cloud storage (Cloudflare R2) and are never stored on our web servers. Input files are deleted within 24 hours. Output files (PDF + IDML) are deleted 48 hours after your job completes.
Do you support password-protected Publisher files?
No. Password-protected files cannot be opened by Publisher automation. Remove the password in Publisher before uploading.
Can I convert files that are still on OneDrive or SharePoint?
Download them locally first. Cloud-only (online-only) files cannot be read by the conversion process.
What about scratch area content?
Content outside the page boundary (the 'scratch area' or 'pasteboard') is captured and placed on the pasteboard of the output file, not discarded.
Do you offer refunds?
Yes. If a file fails to convert, we refund that file automatically. If the entire job fails, you receive a full refund. Refunds appear within 5–10 business days.
